Communities Working Together
There are many types of collaboratives in North Carolina communities: Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils, Child Protection Task Forces, Local Community Collaboratives and many more! A System of Care framework relies on community collaboration at every level to ensure that our child and family-serving efforts are family-driven, individualized and provide an array of services while making the best use of our resources.
The NC Collaborative feels strongly that a true collaborative views family and youth as equal partners so that youth and fa milies are healthy, safe and successful at home, in school and in their communities.
Historically, many communities have had System of Care collaboratives, most commonly known as Local Community Collaboratives. The below information pertains to these particular collaboratives.
Local Community Collaboratives
A Community Collaborative brings together decision-makers (people responsible for services) and stakeholders (people using the services) to “drive”, manage, and monitor the local System of Care. The local collaborative finds and builds common goals, promotes concrete ways to collaborate and supports effective services. The local collaborative promotes teamwork and change in the broader community that is necessary for Child and Family Teams to succeed in their work with children and familes.
Membership in community collaboratives includes family members, community partners, provider agencies and representatives from child-serving agencies including those who implement Comprehensive Treatment Services Program (CTSP). Below is the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for this program between the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Department of Public Instruction CTSP MOA

Request for Technical Assistance
As a function of the Training and Technical Assitance Workgroup, the State Collaborative is able to provide support to Local Community Collaboratives.
We do this by:
Making System of Care presentations to partner agencies and at state level conferences.
Creating a link between the state and local collaboratives.
